The farm apiary

A lovely day today, nice enough to quickly go through the hives at the farm apiary, first look of the year.  7 hives and bees flying from all of them and returning with huge pollen loads, always a good sign.
All went through the winter with a full super under the brood, no Q excluder.   Qs present and correct, worker capped brood, eggs and larvae in all 7 hives.
I will have to move a couple of the hives to the Ryefield apiary in the next week or so, 7 is too many for the farm site in the spring.  I was at the Surfleet apiary yesterday and the damson trees are in flower, the bees were so covered in pollen they looked as yellow as wasps.  I'll get some pictures for my next post.
